LMU 2006

The mission is going to be very busy in the upcoming weeks. A group from LMU with 7 students began their first week studying and doing volunteer work in the mission projects. After their hard labor during the morning they receive classes on Latin American liberation theology in the afternoon with Dr. Michelle Gonzalez, who is the director of this groundbreaking study abroad program in Guatemala. After a busy week the students had the weekend off and went on a trip to the colonial city of Antigua, Guatemala.

After another busy week of work and classes the students will be ready to visit the majestic City of the Mayan culture TIKAL Saturday. This will be a new experience for them and also a great opportunity to see and learn more about the rich culture of Guatemala.

TIKAL was an amazing experience, just walking around this great city of the Mayans and trying to understand its history was unforgettable. The group walked, hiked, and scaled temples for 4 hours.

At one point we had a scare when two students were freaking out on the top of the temple number 5 because of the altitude and now the temple has been renamed the crying temple.
